Murda Mook - Misunderstood (Mixtape Review)

This is my first time listening to Murda Mook and I have to say he does have some skill. This tape is a good showcase of his lyrical ability. Unfortunately it also gives me the feeling Mook won't be getting radio play anytime soon. The songs on here are pretty good conceptially but I couldn't see any of these tracks or Mook himself blowing up. It's pretty much just raw hip-hop without much style. Also Mook delivers every other line as if it was a punchline, when in reality, most of the time, it's not. Misunderstood is a good mixtape, but the features have a habit of outshining Mook on his own shit. Stand out tracks are Best Rapper Alive, This is Why You Flop, Aint Nuting Change 1, and What Happen 2 NYC.

3.5/5

1. Intro
2. Go Harder
3. Expect Da Unexpected
4. Best Rapper Alive
5. Gun Wit A Body
6. This Is Why You Flop
7. Where Da Lyrics Go
8. Blackout
9. Kiss My Azz
10. Never Let You Down
11. Cant Come Where You From
12. Aint Nutin Change
13. I Forgot
14. Root Of All Evil
15. Can I Live
16. What Happen 2 NYC

  1. I was gonna review this, I completely agree with you on this. He was trying to act like his lyrics were fucking amazing when they were just mediocre. It may be that he's dumber than he thinks he is or that he thinks his fans are dumber than they are. I couldn't figure out which one it was... Most of the guests out shined him on this too. His album last year was good, though. Much better than this.

  3. his best work is "The Untouchable" but this was pretty dope as well. Murda Mook got lyrics, there's no doubt about that.
