J.R. Writer - Ghost Writer (Mixtape Review)

J.R. Writer is one of the most active members of Dipset. He has been releasing mixtape after mixtape over the past few years and a few albums here and there. He fits in well with the Dipset gang with his NY swag and arrogant battle rap style. His mixtapes have had mixed acceptance among the east coast gangster rap fans. Usually only half of tracks on his mixtapes are quality cuts. When he puts the effort in he can make good tracks that have high replay-ability. His subject matter is usually concerning bragging about the money he has and battle raps (aimed at no specific target) with creative punch lines and metaphors. However, the lows of his rap delivery, also noticeable on this new mixtape, prevent him from achieving the heavy-weight rap status equal to the founding members of Dipset. The obvious street single Bitch Better Have My Money is the best track on here. The other Standouts are Don’t Gotta Say Much, Make It, and Shooting Stars. This was another average release from him, 2.5/5.
