50 Cent - Forever King (Mixtape Review)

50 Cent is back with a new mixtape “dedicated” to Michael Jackson, just weeks after the release of his War Angel mixtape (reviewed here). I have to say that this release is even better than the War Angel Ep. He stepped his game up even a little more than he did on War Angel. There are a few tracks on here where I was actually impressed with his rapping. It was definitely a reminiscent of old 50. The production on this was much better than on his previous mixtape and definitely carried him at points. The beats were full of 80’s retro-soul beats and 90’s classic rap hit samples. This is production gold in my eyes. I can’t get enough of that shit. I thought I’m Paranoid would have been better if he actually sounded like he was feeling what he was rapping about. There were really only two other notable mistakes he made on this tape 1) was his pathetic 1-lined attempt of paying respects to MJ after dedicating the entire mixtape to him and 2) was his babbling at the end of tracks to extend them by a few minutes. Strap your seatbelts in guys, but all in all this was a good release. A few of these tracks made it to my 5-star list like Get The Money and Touch Me. The other standouts were the Michael Jackson Freestyle, If U Leaving, Then Leave..., and Funny How Time Flies. This mixtape gets a 4/5 (no typo).

1. I'm Paranoid
2. Respect It Or Check It
3. Suicide Watch
4. Things We Do
5. Get The Money
6. Funny How Time Flies
7. If U Leaving, Then Leave...
8. Dreaming
9. Michael Jackson Freestyle
10. London Girl Pt2
11. Touch Me
12. Put That Work In
