The streets are buzzing about this new dude. French Montana is an affiliate of recently incarcerated Max B. He also just signed a record deal with Akon. He has recently released 2 EPs and has received a decent amount of hood praise. Let’s just start off by saying he has zero rap talent. It puzzles me why anyone (including me) even listens to this guy. No one can argue about the fact that he should not be rapping. He is off beat probably 50% of the songs he puts out. He has no ability to adjust to different beats, he just keeps his flow the same until someone gives him a beat that will fit. However, I still listen to him and will probably continue to listen to him. The one thing he does have going for him is his unique flow on hooks (just like Max B). His hooks are usually very infectious, although they are hardly decently lyrically. The Laundry Man EP is a very good EP in my opinion, for French. There are 4 excellently produced tracks on here. French also seems to have worked harder than ever to flow on this. I would say 4/6 tracks on here are standouts, for French. My favorite track is the hit single: New York Minute. The remaining standouts are Overtime, Morning, and So High. The other two tracks are absolutely terrible. Because of the frequency of the variation in the quality of his music, he will be very limited in terms of the progress he can make as an artist. The recent EP, Laundry Man 2 features almost the entire Laundry Man EP, as well as some new tracks. The standouts on this were Life Of An O.G., Stuck In The Middle, Closer Than Most, Mac And Cheese, and Never Getting’ Up. The remaining tracks follow his pattern of being terrible when not a standout. These EPs average out to a 3/5 (which is probably the best rating he will ever get).
